What plants could be grown only in water(without sand) inside room with partial sunli

I wanna grow more plants at least with in my house and make my surroundings at least greener. I already grown money plant in mineral water(aquafina bottles with just water in it). But after few days 5 new leaves came and after that it slowly started dying.

1)What all things to be followed when growing plants in only water?

2) What plants could be grown in only water in Indian climate?
