Hello James, and welcome to Shade Tree.

That's the thing, I haven't talked to anyone that has remotely liked it at first.
That is a problem in itself for Win 8.
What advantages are there compared to all the frustration involved?
Without a touchscreen monitor the differences in Win7 & Win8 are useless.

Who wants to go out and buy a $500 "Deal" on a new Win8 machine, then have to buy a $300 monitor to make use of it..... especially when 24" monitors are mostly under $200 now.
I just bought a 24" for under $140.

Yes, as you say, I know folks that are "getting" use to Win8, but I also know a few newbies that it has discouraged in learning the INTERNET.
That is never good for any software or the internet.

I am of course not a newbie by a long shot.
I was working on DCS main frame computers in Nuclear Power Plants & Refineries before there was PCs or Microsoft.

The parts of Win8 that folks don't see is what I'm mostly against.
That is how it will not run older software like Win XP or Win7 pro did.
Win8 Pro does not allow old software either!
I haven't figured out ANY advantages with Win8 Pro yet.

Windows 8 is all about killing other software & collecting more information about users.
They tried it with Vista, but the Government was paying attention back then...... not so much at this time.

Thank you James.

I'm getting mixed reviews now from different people on Win8.
Vista just didn't work.
Windows 8 works, but not easy to use for PC owners without touch screen monitors.
Then there is the problem with Win 8 not working with older software.
(Not playing well with others)

Win 8 is trying to eventually replace our Desktop screen with their new Start screen with what they want us to see.
Defeats the reason FOR a desk top screen, with nothing but personal links on it.

The problem this time is "Being Forced" to use Windows 8, by MS dropping support for "THEIR OWN" older software such as Win XP & 7 they have already made money on, and forcing retailers to pull ALL Windows 7 stuff off the shelves.

BIG difference this time!.......... and our Government is to pre-occupied with themselves right now to have a clue.
